I build software that takes repetitive work out of Indian businesses — and I have been doing it for eighteen years.

What I actually do

I started writing software for businesses in 2008, in Varanasi, and I have not really stopped. Over that time my team and I have automated more than five thousand businesses — schools, NBFCs, distributors, retailers, direct selling companies.

What that adds up to is not a theory about technology. It is a fairly specific understanding of how Indian businesses actually run: on registers, on WhatsApp, on one person who knows where everything is. Software that ignores this fails, however good it looks in a demo.

Technology should make a business simpler, not more complicated.

Most of what I build comes back to the same handful of ideas. Systems should reduce repetitive manual work rather than relocate it. Processes should be clear enough that a new employee can follow them. A business owner should spend less time managing tasks and more time growing the thing. And technology is only useful when it solves a problem someone actually has.
